Google Chrome third most popular browser

Google’s Chrome overtook Apple’s Safari to become the world’s third most favorite browser only 16 months after its debut.
Internet Explorer, meanwhile, lost about a full percentage level in December.
Chrome ended December with a part of 4.63%, corresponding to Net Applications. Apple’s Safari, which dropped into fourth place for the first time, placed a share of 4.46%.
The switch in positions came a month earlier than Computerworld’s December prediction, which had been based on a three-month gain-loss movement of the two browsers.
Chrome’s December increase of 0.7 of a percentage point, the biggest since Google launched the web browser in September 2008, may have been partly fueled by the release of the beta versions for Mac and Linux three weeks earlier.
